Over the summer I read "Where She Went" by Gayle Forman. It is a sequel to a book that I had read during the school year, named "If I Stay". In the first book they introduce Mia and Adam who are seniors in high school, and have been dating for four years. When Mia gets into a car crash with her parents, she is the only one that lives. When she looks around she finds that she has not fully awaken yet, so she gets to choose if she stays or goes. While she was debating whether or not to wake up she heard adam tell her something. Adam told her if she stayed, he would leave her forever if she chose that, as long as she stayed for him.
She chose to stay but left him for New York to play the cello, and he left and became a rock star. In the second book, he goes to New York four years later and see's her in concert playing the cello. When she see's him in the audience she tells him to come back stage. He goes and it is really awkward between the two of them until Mia asks him to get coffee, and they start to walk across the brooklyn bridge. They start to tell each other about how Mia is now a professional cellist and Adam is going on tour with his band the next day. Finally Adam asks the question that has been hanging in the air for four years "why did you leave without an explanation?" She tells him how she thought everyone would think that she was crazy if she told anyone that she could see and hear everything while she was hospitalized. He explains that he somehow knew that that was the reason she left, but thought that he was crazy for thinking it. They go back to her apartment and start to play the first song they played together, him on his guitar and her on her cello. Once they finish the song, it is like the time that had past was all forgotten. At the end of they chose to stay together.
I really liked this book because, even though they had not spoken for four years, and was awkward at first, they found what had pulled them together at first- the music.
